Port Macquarie CWA Branch has highlighted the importance of a support network and chats with friends when it comes to mental health.
That message has been coupled with a $5000 donation to Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse to coincide with CWA Awareness Week.
Port Macquarie CWA Branch treasurer Alice Miller said combining the CWA's role as a passionate advocate for NSW with its tradition of tea and scones, the CWA of NSW used the week to "start a sconversation".
Port Macquarie CWA Branch did just that on Wednesday, September 4.
Mrs Miller said it was about a batch of scones, a cup of tea and asking the question are you okay.
The branch also took the opportunity to donate $5000 to Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse.
CWA Awareness Week 2019 had a focus on mental health awareness and support services and how everyone can help make a difference when it comes to maintaining robust mental health in ourselves and in those around us.
Port Macquarie CWA Branch president Colleen Carmody said what better facility to help people in their mental health recovery than Endeavour Clubhouse at Hamilton Green.
Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse provides a safe and caring environment for people recovering from mental illness to build self-confidence, and vocational and social skills.
Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse chief executive officer Rob Moorehead said the donation would make so much of a difference.
"We survive on this type of support from the community," he said.
The $5000 donation will go towards new activities.
