Port Macquarie Better Orbital Options Alliance has called the town meeting which begins at 2pm on Sunday, September 8 at the restaurant in the Livermore building at the Port Macquarie Racecourse.
The meeting was John Tingle's idea.
Mr Tingle said it would be a chance to gauge what the community was concerned and angry about when it came to the orbital road proposal.
"My intent is to try to focus public feeling in a way that the council can't ignore," he said.
Mr Tingle said the plan after the meeting was to approach Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to convey the community feeling in a clear and forceful manner and ask the council to cease and desist.
The meeting will hear from five to six speakers before the floor is opened to questions and answers.
The council is moving ahead with a strategic business case for all orbital road options despite strong opposition from affected residents.
A rescission motion was lost in July.
The airport access road has been separated from orbital road project investigations and planning will progress for a flood-free primary airport access road as a stand-alone priority.
Councillors are welcome to attend the town meeting as individual citizens.
The Port News contacted all the councillors.
Mayor Peta Pinson said she would attend the meeting to show her support to the community.
Cr Peter Alley confirmed he would not be attending the meeting.
Cr Rob Turner said he had commitments but may be able to attend later in the meeting.
Deputy mayor Lisa Intemann said she would not be going to the meeting due to a prior commitment.
