A huge congratulations goes to Lochie Anderson and Brayden Worth for both having their first ever fights on such a big stage.
Lochie went up against Jesse Atherton from All Star Boxing Queensland and Brayden's opponent was Anthony Capra from PCYC Umina Beach.
Unfortunately Lochie and Brayden didn't get the wins this time round, but they do take consolation in the fact both of their opponents went on to the Golden Gloves champions in their respective divisions.
Wauchope Boxing Club is so incredibly proud of you both for stepping up and giving more than 100 percent against some tough opposition.
Reece Anderson's first fight was against Michael Jones from Bethania Boxing.
It was a beautiful day of boxing from Reece to take the win and secure a spot in the semi-finals.
In Reece's second fight he came up against Anthony Luxford from Smithy's TGW and it was a different story.
Anthony was constantly wrestling and laying on Reece trying to shut down his reach, smother his attack and wear him down.
Reece had to work extremely hard to get his punches away in close but he was able to do enough to get the decision and progress to the final.
On day three Reece went up against Peter Jurlia from the South Australian team.
We knew Peter was going to be an extremely strong opponent as we had watched his semi-finals the day before where Peter knocked his opponent our in just 42 seconds.
Round one saw Reece boxing and moving nicely with both boys giving it their all.
However Peter was able to land some great shots giving him the round.
After a change of tactics in the first break by head coach Dave Thurtell, Reece went out hard picking up the pace, switching angles, working in close and counter punching beautifully to take the win in round two.
In round three both boys had an even game. A seesawing battle ensured with both boys taking the lead numerous times through out the round which had the entire crowd on its feet cheering wildly.
At the end of the round three war the judges were so close with Jurlina just scraping through with the win 29 points to 28. This means Reece took home the silver gloves in 2019.
"We couldn't be more proud of you Reece," a team spokesperson said.
"Three fights in three days at your first National Tournament and you bought home the silver.
"We all think you are a champion."
