The Seaside Classic always attracts a quality field and this year is no exception with entries from all over the state as well as some from interstate.
Many past winners of this event have gone on to make successful professional careers and once again the field will include a number of players with plus handicaps.
There are particularly strong contingents coming from both the Sydney and Newcastle areas and there are several players from interstate.
Defending champion Clayton Small from Maitland will return after hitting a winning score of three over par total of 145 last year.
The Port Macquarie challenge will be led by Rowan Cooper with Stefan Walker, David Bagust, Terry Davis, John Hutchison and Matt Hayes all in the mix.
It would not surprise to see one of them do well.
Phil Pye is another local who has won the event twice in the past and a good showing is expected.
The defending ladies champion is Bridgette Griffin from Pelican Waters on the Sunshine Coast with a winning score of 171.
There are a number of past winners in this year's female event with strong entries coming from Wauchope and Coffs Harbour.
The local ladies challenge will be led by current club champion Ella Scaysbrook who was the youngest winner of the title.
Other local challengers include Tracey Crowe, Wendy Gordon and Sheena Gunn.
The Port Macquarie Golf Course is a challenging layout where the wind has a strong influence on scoring and the course is in excellent condition.
The course record which stands at 63 was set by Paul Marantz in the 2001 Pro-Am and equaled by Nathan Goodchild in winning the 2002 Seaside Classic and Matt Millar in the 2017 Port Macquarie Pro-Am.
The Port Macquarie Golf Club extends an invitation to members and visitors to view some of the state's best golfers testing their skills on the demanding links layout.
A seeded draw will be used for the final round on the Sunday.
