Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service personnel were initially called out to the emergency on Lindfield Park Road at 12.06pm on July 18.
The fire has burnt about 130 hectares near Port Macquarie Driving Range and Mini Golf to Port Macquarie Airport.
Fire and Rescue NSW Port Macquarie station commander Gavin Muller said fire crews will be working over the weekend to contain the blase.
"The fire is still burning uncontained on our North-Western side, we have worked pretty hard today to make some in roads on that," he said.
"We're currently at just over 130 hectares of burnt country and there are no properties lost whatsoever.
"The firefighters have done a really good job today and the fire will probably continue to burn for the next few days.
"It's inaccessible and this type of country tends to smolder.
"With this cold inversion of the night air the smoke will come down so we are saying to people, close their doors and windows, stay inside particularly if they have an respiratory illness.
"There's no property under threat.
"Firefighters are going to be in attendance around the clock over the weekend. By tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon we should have full and effective containment."
North Coast Public Health Unit is advising people to consider their health while smoke is affecting the area and avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities when smoke levels are high.
The Oxley Highway was closed in both directions on Friday morning, July 19 due to heavy smoke in the area contributing to traffic accidents.
Motorists traveling in the vicinity of Lindfield Park Road along the Oxley Highway, Pacific Highway and Hastings River Drive have been advised by NSW Rural Fire Service to take extra care as there is a significant amount of smoke in the area.
