A NEWCASTLE foot chase has landed an 18-year-old man in front of a Port Macquarie court.

On Tuesday plain-clothes officers spotted the 18-year-old Tighes Hill man on Brown Street. Recognising him, they attempted to stop him before he ran.
Police chased him on foot and arrested him in a nearby car park.
It will be alleged that the man, 18, coward punched a stranger when he was in the company of two other men. Police will allege that he assaulted the man further while he was on the ground, knocking him unconscious.
The alleged victim sustained serious facial injuries requiring hospital treatment.
Port Macquarie police began investigating and identified the 18-year-old in the course of their inquiries, notifying Newcastle police.
The man, who is on parole until 2020, was taken to Newcastle police station. He was charged with recklessly cause grievous bodily harm in company, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and affray.
He was refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court, where he was refused bail again to face court in Port Macquarie on August 28.
