The Bastille Day event was hosted at Little Fish Cafe and Vineyard Port Macquarie.
Jose Fernandes grew up in Compiègne, north of Paris and said Bastille Day is known as Fête du 14 juillet by french people.
Traditionally Jose said the day is marked with good food, lots of drink, dancing and fireworks.
Jose recently returned from an overseas holiday where he visited his hometown. He said it was wonderful to catch up with friends and family.
Jose and his wife Brenda have lived in Port Macquarie for 20 years.
They said they enjoyed eating baguette in France, as it doesn't compare to the bread people buy in Australia.
Laurieton resident Jean Ryan's birthday falls on July 14 and she marked her 89th at the event.
She said she's celebrated Bastille Day for her entire life.
