Sarah Storrier's goal separated the two sides in a match played at times in torrential rain.
Piranhas captain Kaitlin Pell said it was a pleasing result that kept them in touch with ladder-leaders Wauchope.
They were understrength with the state championships at Grafton taking players and families away from Port Macquarie for the weekend.
"It was a pretty slow game, but we did pretty well because we only had 10 players," she said.
The Piranhas changed their game plan during the match to accommodate their one player disadvantage.
"We kept to our structure and played with a bit of direction where we pulled our striker down to hold the defence a bit more," Pell said.
"It's always nice to win a derby," she said.
