The two events were held this week at The Lost Plot on Central Road.
Organiser Alanna Proud said about 100 people attended Wednesday's walk with about 60 at Monday's workshop.
The winter festival walk included children's winter stories, singing, bread-making and the walk.
"We encouraged people to come along and make their lanterns at a workshop on Monday," Ms Proud said.
"Then on Wednesday we enjoyed hearing some children's winter stories, making bread in the pizza oven and also singing a few songs we normally sing at the school.
"It is a very simple, but lovely event," she said.
"This is our second year here at The Lost Plot while our first event was held as a walk around Kooloonbung Creek."
Ms Proud said the school wants to see the event become something of a tradition for Port Macquarie.
She says the two events are important because it shows children that they can make their own things and to see a beautiful finished product.
It was really lovely when the sun went down on Wednesday and the effects of the lanterns took over.

"It was really lovely when the sun went down on Wednesday and the effects of the lanterns took over," she said.
"Next year we will look to secure some funding so we can open this event right up to the entire community.
"Winter is a great time to gather together and have something to do as a community.
"As a school we like to celebrate the seasons so we can give the students something to look forward to.
"We want to extend that opportunity to the wider community."
Ms Proud said the two events were also about making traditions that children can hold onto later in life.
She described the lantern making workshop and the winter festival walk as a small but growing event.
