The open road for electric vehicles on the Pacific Highway has got a little longer following the installation of an NRMA fast charging station at Nabiac.

The fast charger will enable most EV motorists to charge their cars in about 30 minutes. A standard public EV charger takes between 3-6 hours.
The station has been installed near the sporting facilities on Nabiac Street, allowing motorists to use local amenities while charging.
The Nabiac charging station is one of 13 NRMA facilities to open across the State, following Sydney Olympic Park, Wallsend near Newcastle, Jindabyne, Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley, Mittagong in the Southern Highlands, Narrandera, Berry, Young, West Wyalong, Bathurst, Parkes and Dubbo.
The NRMA has committed $10 million to build one of Australia's largest fast charging networks across NSW and the ACT.
NRMA commercial projects general manager, Elspeth Cronin said the Nabiac charger would be a game changer for electric vehicle motorists travelling to the Mid North Coast.
"The NRMA is serious about ensuring the next generation of mobility is accessible not just in city areas but right across our regions," Ms Cronin said.
"The Mid North Coast has long been one of our state's most popular destinations for motoring tourists, and now we are ensuring those great touring routes are even more accessible for everyone.
"We know that one of the key reasons why the uptake of electric vehicle ownership has been relatively slow in Australia is because motorists are worried about where their next charge will be, particularly when they're on the road in regional NSW.
"The opening of our first fast charger on the Mid North Coast means we have now opened the North Coast region to EV motorists who want to keep moving and not wait hours for a charge.
"With NRMA fast chargers already in the Hunter and Newcastle, Nabiac is perfectly positioned to allow drivers to continue further, more quickly, up the coast."
Ms Cronin said the motoring organisation was committed to delivering a solution to 'range anxiety', by installing an extensive network of electric vehicle fast chargers throughout NSW and the ACR
"Our aim is that 95 per cent of EV journeys are within 150 kilometres of one of our charging stations," she said.
There is also a Tesla super-charging station at Cassegrains in Port Macquarie.
