The awesome foursome fronted by lead guitar Christian Familiar, bassist Harry Firth, rhythm guitar with vocals Jaxon Pollard and drummer Aran Dennis have been lighting up gigs across the Mid North Coast for the last six months.
They now turn their attention south as they enact plans to move to the bright neon glow of Melbourne in late June.
Psychedelic pop contains the characteristics of pop music with added psychedelic traits such as 'trippy' effects.
Drummer Aran Dennis described the band's music as swirling pop rock.
"A lot of it comes from effects pedals to produce an off-centre brand of music," he said.
"The writing of the songs is where the pop comes from and there's quite a range.
"It's a pop song with a real swirling style, some are really bopping dance music."
The band describes their music with similarities to Tame Impala and English rock band The Beatles, with a mix of off-centre vibes.
The young illusionists have previously held performances at Port Macquarie's The Lounge Room, beside He Danced Ivy and Palomino on May 18.
They have also rocked out at The Federal Hotel in Bellingen with Royal Chant and Emu Vendetta on February 22, as well as shows at Finnian's Irish Tavern and Sawtell Hotel.
"I was originally moving there (to Melbourne) to study graphic design but we'll see how the band goes as well with more opportunities," said Familiar.
"I'm really excited for the move, super excited," said Firth.
"Port Macquarie has been a great start."
The group released a three track debut extended play 'The Pledge' on March 1 this year.
They feature three songs on Triple J Unearthed including 'She Drove So Fast', 'Delirium and All Her Ways' and 'Can You Simulate My Love?'.
"We originally wanted to form the band just for fun but now we record stuff," said Pollard, who has written 15 original songs for the group.
"Each new stage is part of a magicians act, the first was 'The Pledge', then the 'The Turn' and finally 'The Prestige'.
"So the next one to be released will be in Melbourne."
The Lounge Room manager Meagan Mcghie said the Magic Ian performance on May 18 had drawn strong crowd numbers.
"They're like our favourite local band, they always bring a large crowd down because of the type of music they produce," she said.
"It's a psychedelic Beatles vibe, it's becoming more and more popular these days.
"They've kind of put a twist on it and modernised it which I think is why they are so popular.
"Magic Ian have their own sort of sound, they get everyone up dancing and it has been a really good vibe."
