The catering was carried out by a Tamil refugee couple, who have recently moved to Port Macquarie as part of the requirements of their visa.
They provided tasty ethnic food for 60 people and are also able to cater for other events.
The community was entertained by talented, classically trained Tamil Dancer, Nickshan, who performed five original dances.
During the performance Nickshan carries out amazing balancing acts which demonstrate his expertise.
He has been dancing since he was 10 years old and is now providing Bollywood Dancing classes at the Baptist church in Port Macquarie.
The participants also paid their respects to the victims of the terrorist bombings in Sri Lanka which has caused grief to the Tamil refugees who have lost friends and family members in this tragic event.
Nickshan performed two moving performances that highlighted the atrocities that occurred in Sri Lanka that resulted in many Tamils fleeing their country and seeking asylum in other countries such as Australia.
These atrocities resulted in the deaths and suffering of innocent people including women and children.
Saturday May 18, was the tenth anniversary of these tragedies.
These events are crimes against humanity and the perpetrators are still influential in Sri Lanka today.
