In 2019, Irene Mifsud, Magalie Lameloise and Bron Watson are all Mother's Day Classic ambassadors currently going through treatment for breast cancer.
"For me research is everything because it has allowed my disease to be controlled with less invasive side effects so I can live my beautiful life," Irene said.
"I will be on medication for the rest of my life but research has given me more options that can control my disease so I can live a great life."
Having been diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time at the age of 33, and then again at aged 40, Magalie knows too well how vital research into treatment and finding a cure for breast cancer is.
"Check your boobs and know your body because early detection saves lives," Magalie said.
"But also get your genes checked, because if you have the breast cancer gene you can make informed decisions about your health and body.
"There are a group of people that have never had cancer but carry the gene that increases their chances.
"Knowing your genetics might be a scary thing but knowing is empowering and means you can make decisions about preventative surgeries and put things in place if you are at risk of cancer."
Bron Watson said she was proud to be a voice for the local event for the second year in a row, helping raise awareness and fund research.
"I stand up and be the voice for those who can't and for those who are no longer with us, being uncomfortable is an understatement," Bron said.
"The reason why I love, support and am passionate about the Mother's Day Classic is the fact that all funds go to research and if we can help someone not to have the side effects I did then absolutely I am there."
Eight women die every day from breast cancer in Australia and more than 3000 people will lose their lives to breast cancer in 2019.
The Mother's Day Classic begins with registration opening at 7.15am before the walk starts at 9am.
Funds raised from the walk will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute.
