Athletes are making their way into town via Brisbane and Sydney flights in time for the Ironman events on May 5 and there are some great opportunities for locals to see the best available racing machines on the market.
Port Macquarie Taxis, taxi marshal Darren Riley said he'd been seeing some top-notch cycles arriving since Monday, April 29.
"I did notice a few coming through the airport, some are from America, France, Europe," he said.
"It's really quite amazing and I think Friday will be a big day for those last minute bikes coming in.
Mr Riley said competitors arriving in Port Macquarie were from all walks of life.
"We've seen 20 bikes come off this one plane today and seen 40 bikes so far today," he said at the baggage area on May 2.
"It's good to see so many people interested in the event, many people I've seen are from different walks of life.
"Some are mates, some husband and wife teams and many others - there are a lot of overseas people landing and that's great for the town."
