Port Macquarie is one of two regional locations in Australia participating in the global event.
The march supports the public discovery, distribution, and understanding of scientific knowledge.
Port Macquarie organiser Angela Frimberger said they want to see action on climate change.
"Current Australian policy is inadequately informed by evidence-based science in areas such as climate change and renewable energy, and public discourse is affected by substantial misinformation."
They are also concerned about cuts to scientific bodies in Australia.
"After the major cuts to the CSIRO a few years ago, that agency has recovered partially, but staffing levels are still almost 20 per cent lower than they were before 2013."
The March for Science will end with a talk by local Science and STEM teacher Lloyd Godson.
The march starts at 1pm on Saturday May 4 at Rotary Park near Stewart Street.
Seats for the talk is limited and registration is required.
