Some 32,000 fingerlings are normally released around September.
The HFF has been part of the release program, in concert with the Department of Primary Industries, according to HFF native fish release coordinator Don Dixon.
"In 2018 through a combined club, DPI and additional member contributions we raised $3500 which enabled us to release some 4000 bass fingerlings," Mr Dixon said.
"The following year, with a very generous one-off grant of $5000 from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, and matched by DPI and member contributions, we released $11,300 worth of almost 14,000 bass fingerlings at four locations along the Hastings and Forbes Rivers.
"This year we are looking forward to a contribution of our combined club and DPI along with new sponsors.
"The club has until May 17 to make application to the program for the next release cycle," he said.
The DPI's dollar for dollar release program to fishing clubs promotes an increase of fish stocks in approved local rivers.
The fish stocking program was introduced in 1998 by NSW DPI to benefit anglers.
Under the program, community groups apply to the NSW Recreational Fishing Trust (funded by the recreational fishing licence) for matching funds to purchase native fish from licensed commercial hatcheries for stocking rivers and dams in the Murray Darling system and east of the great divide.
The club has until May 17 to make application to the program for the next release cycle.

The dollar for dollar native fish stocking program has been extremely well received by the general community.
Private hatcheries supplying fish for stocking have been enthusiastic, and the stocking community have been highly supportive.
A number of clubs and councils involved in the program have been pooling funds in order to purchase more fish to re-stock their local waterway.
The program is helping to promote the values of sustainable fishing by providing a sense of community ownership and responsibility for our native freshwater fisheries.
The dollar-for-dollar program has also provided benefits in terms of regional aquaculture investment and an added boost for local economies and tourism.
Mr Dixon said Australian Bass had been released into freshwater sections of the Hastings, Wilson, Camden Haven and Forbes rivers.
Fingerlings will be released in September.
Mr Dixon said the sponsorship deal would suit businesses associated with the fishing industry, including tackle shops.
He said the release program had numerous benefits.
"It is good for the environment, more fish in the river keeps our rivers healthy while it also creates tourism potential along with increasing visitor numbers.
