Magpies star Cambridge McCormick was heavily involved and kicked four goals as the Pies inflicted a comprehensive 13.10 (88) to 0.0 (0) hammering of Grafton/Northern Blues.
It was another step forward for Port Macquarie who were hamstrung by inaccurate goalkicking during last weekend's draw with Sawtell.
Coach Mel Hunt said it was pleasing to see her team continue to improve after last weekend's disappointment.
"We had more accurate kicking this week," she said.
"Last week we should have won and we didn't.
"Our kicking at goal let us down otherwise we would have won very clearly so this week we made a difference and while we were still not as accurate as I'd like, it was certainly much better."
With the ball rarely venturing into the Northern Blues' half of the field, it enabled Hunt and the Magpies to chop and change their formations.
"It was a great team effort," Hunt said.
"We were able to move our backs into the forwards throughout the game so every player was instrumental in the game.
"Ricky Pomroy had a fantastic game and Cambridge dominated in the midfield so we had a number of players (that contributed), but every single player played really well."
Hunt said it was encouraging to see another team join the competition this year.
"This is Northern Blues' first season and they had a great game; they've got some quality players there and when I spoke to them after the game I let them know to be proud of themselves.
"They didn't give up and kept their heads in the game so they'll get better and better as the season goes on."
Next weekend the Magpies head to Coffs Harbour for a clash with the Breakers.
"We're looking forward to a hit up against them and they beat Grafton-Woolgoolga last week so it will be interesting to see how we fare against them on the road," Hunt said.
"They've got a season under their belt so they know what they're doing and will give us a good run next week."
