Local military personnel have given their take on ANZAC Day, ahead of the official commemoration on Thursday, April 25.

Many describing it as a day of remembrance for current or past service members on the national day commemorating all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
Port Macquarie's Nine Platoon Charlie Company, Corporal Justin McKinnon said it was an opportunity to hear a story from older diggers and reflect on his own family's service.
"I personally love it, it's something that holds family significance while also engages with older diggers and hear their stories," he said.
"For me its a day of remembrance of servicing members past and present.
"I've done the last five years at Wauchope as part of the catafalque party.
"Normally we are up at 3.30am for early rehearsal, mount guard around 5.15 for the dawn service then there are more rehearsals for the march.
"We're focused on the drills because you want to look sharp for fallen and returned servicemen."
Dawn service attendees can visit the Wauchope cenotaph at 5.45am, although there will be no dawn march this year.
The morning service gets underway with veterans requiring a lift and marchers to assemble at 10.15am at the Wauchope RSL Club.
Vehicles will move off along Cameron Street at 10.20am with a fall in for the march to the cenotaph bia Cameron and High streets to start at 10.30am.
The remembrance ceremony commences at the cenotaph at 11am, sharp.
Port Macquarie's Warrent officer class two, Don Gilson said it was his first time attending the Port Macquarie commemoration.
"Anzac Day to me is a day of remembrance for our fore-bearers and our current serving members in theatres of battle around the world," he said.
Residents can attend the Port Macquarie Anzac Day services with a dawn service at 5.30am at the war memorial on the corner of Clarence and Horton streets.
The main service march will commence at 10am with the commemoration service at 10.30am.
Port Macquarie's 41st Royal New South Wales Regiment Charlie Company holds training nights on Tuesdays, and recruitment nights on the first Tuesday of each month from 7pm at the 40-45 Munster Street depot.
