He took out the Australian Aquathlon Championships on the Gold Coast on April 8 before he anchored his team to victory in the Triathlon Australia mixed relay championship B-final at Runaway Bay.
The hardest part of the eight-day trip came in a 54th-place finish in the Oceania Olympic Distance Championships on April 14 at Moreton Bay.
"I got absolutely smashed in an extremely world-class field," Jones said.
"Overall it was a good experience and I know what to work on for next time."
Jones admitted his success at the Gold Coast aquathlon was after an "impromptu" decision to race on the day.
"It had a 750-metre swim and then a five kilometre run and funnily enough it was my first time doing a traditional aquathon so that was for a bit of fun," he said.

"It was a good warm-up for the mixed relay because I travelled up to the Gold Coast the day before and needed a hit out to get the legs moving again after spending six hours in the car."
It had the desired result when he backed up 24 hours later and played a vital role in his four-person teams final leg of the race.
"It was a 300-metre swim, seven kay bike and a one and a half kay run," Jones said.
"With the mixed relay you had to qualify for it and I was nominated, then got accepted which was pretty cool."
The 26-year-old has set the goal of being in the top echelon of triathletes from around the country.
"I honestly think I can be top 10 in Australia in terms of elite athletes," he said.
"I need to keep ticking the kays over in the pool and one day I'll have a good swim and maybe I might get an Australian title."
Jones will next compete at the Asian Cup in China on June 2, followed by the South West Rocks Running Festival on June 9.
"Then I won't do much until September-October where I'll head over to Japan for a couple of weeks for an Asian Cup and then head to China again," he said.
