A Port Macquarie real estate company is doing its bit for youth homelessness by collecting essential household items for young people who live on the streets.

Principal at Port Macquarie First National Ron Fisher said his family's problems with homelessness had motivated him to pick up the cause.
"I have a history in the past with a family member.
"It was a long time ago but my daughter was in that situation wanting to leave home at a very young age and there just wasn't the help available."
First National is asking people to donate anything that can help young people starting a new home.
Electrical items should be new but everything else like bed linen should be in a good condition.
Employee Meaghan Luke said the company "was all about finding people new homes" and this was a good way to contribute.
All items will be sent to Port Macquarie youth homelessness service YP Space.
YP Space Operations Manager Michelle Ackerman said youth homelessness is a major issue in the Port Macquarie.
Around 300 young people on any given night are experiencing homelessness in Port Macquarie.

They are couch surfing, moving between insecure accommodation, family friends, putting themselves at risk by remaining in violent situations.
First National will run the fundraiser until Easter.
