Community advocates throughout the Port Macquarie/Hastings region made their voices heard by signing our campaign postcards or online pledge that asked the next NSW Government to protect the community from tobacco, tackle childhood obesity, and support people with lymphoedema. We received a record 16,100 pledges.

Advocates across NSW met with their local MPs and candidates, covering 85% of the 93 electorates in the state. There is no question that the Port Macquarie/Hastings community's efforts have made NSW politicians aware of the evidence and community support for the issues we raised.

Although we are disappointed that, to date, neither of the major parties have made a firm commitment based on our calls for action, we held encouraging discussions prior to the election. There are important opportunities in the near future to engage government and continue our advocacy.
