One of the few things that are known is that Dan Gardner will wear the captain's armband for their first match of 2019 following a first-round bye.
Gardner is part of a leadership group formed by coach Darrell Pascoe that also includes Anthony Jamieson, but captaincy isn't a new role for Gardner.
"Every now and then over the past 10 years I've done it," he said.
"There is a bit more on your shoulders, but everyone's a captain out there."
The Saints captain refused to be drawn into an opinion on whether Kempsey's busy pre-season that saw them progress to the fifth round of the FFA Cup last weekend would help the home team's chances.
"It's always pretty even so hope both our grades get off to a good start," he said.
"They'll be eager to start their season with points on the board as well."
Gardner said Saints' focus was on this year and "playing it one week at a time" rather than reflecting on what went wrong last season.
They finished second last with just three wins.
"We're looking forward to this year and have a few new faces in the team so we'll see how we go," he said.
"It will be a tough test for us first up, we've always had tough games against (Kempsey) so it will be a nice challenge."
First grade kicks off at 3pm with reserve grade at 1.15pm.
