Like many others in the area, I have read most of the council correspondence on the proposed orbital road and been to council meetings and "info sessions". But we don't know why.

Because we thought this issue was abandoned when council officers gave assurances (at public meetings), that there would never be a road built through the Sanctuary Springs and Greenmeadows Road area. That was back in 2004, and to my knowledge, there has never been a public forum to reverse that decision.
If council planning officers are going back on their word, how can residents in this council area trust them in the future.
In the meantime, they have permitted and encouraged 15 more years of development in these areas, including Sanctuary Springs estate, Dahlsford Retirement Village, St. Columba School, Emmaus Catholic nursing home, and housing construction near all of these these sites. Also, I believe Emmaus has plans to extend their nursing home which will mean they will consequently become even closer to the "orbital road", and the resulting toxic smog from the exhaust of continual vehicular traffic.
Already there are mists which form many mornings on the wetlands beside the Kooloonbung Creek, west of Emmaus and Sanctuary Springs. That would be much worse in winter for Emmaus residents (and others in the area) who have respiratory issues.
How could council officers be so thoughtless and insensitive to even contemplate building a major road in that area, that would cause so much of the ensuing grief and pain to our seniors of Port Macquarie.
These current "orbital road" plans by council planning officers are about 30 years too late.
