I would like to reply to John Drinan's letter in the Courier on March 13 on climate change in which he attacks the government.

There is no doubting the climate is changing as mother earth has done for millions of years. But no matter how much money is spent on her she will continue on her path. There is no doubt renewables are the popular yet not cost effective alternative because that is where all the big investors have invested their resources and we the taxpayer have no real say in changing this outcome.
We are sitting on one of the world's richest resources of coal and uranium. We sell these resources to China and other overseas countries and they produce power from low emission coal fired power stations and nuclear reactors. The question is, why can we not do this in Australia. It is proven that renewables are not as cost effective and with our ever growing population a reliable base load of power will always be needed. So Government, expand your horizons beyond the four year term.
What has this once great nation come to when our children are brainwashed into striking for climate change. Our ancestors would be appalled. What made this country great was bloody hard work. Teach our children that. Common sense no longer prevails.
