Julie and Nick Slater of Slater and Slater Real Estate approached the Wauchope Uniting Church community meals program offering to donate the money to cover the cost of the Christmas celebration lunch.
Meals co-ordinator Carol Higgins said it has never happened before for the band of volunteers who provide lunches on a weekly basis.
"Naturally, this was very happily and readily accepted by all concerned. Our local butchers supplied the meats, both Ozharvest and local suppliers donated the fruit and vegetables.
"Bread rolls came from Wauchope Colonial bakery, the delicious ‘magic Christmas pudding’ was prepared by Win Secombe and all trimmings for the occasion were obtained locally," said Carol.
On the celebration day a scrumptious cold buffet style meal of salads, ham and turkey was served to all.
"We were joined in our meals by our generous benefactors, Nick and Julie Slater, both of whom proved to be very capable in the food, beverage and friendship area. A special day enjoyed by one and all," said Carol.
"Many thanks to all who helped in any way, especially our hardworking volunteers. Of course, on celebration day, two new assistants, Julie and Nick, were certainly most capable in the dual role of benefactors and behind the serving table workers.
"As well as helping to ensure a most enjoyable lunch, Nick and Julie, were able to meet many of our diners who join us join us regularly for a meal each week . It was a much appreciated gesture, in a friendly, caring and sharing atmosphere. My sincere apologies for this very late thank you," she added.
