Local firefighters have had an 'egg-citing' kitchen situation when cartons of eggs allegedly caught fire in Port Macquarie.

'Egg-mergency' teams scrambled out to the Rydges Hotel on Hay Street, just after 5pm on Thursday, February 21.
The sun-side up blaze confronting them in a cool room was no yolk, with the call out taking about half an hour to quell with CO2 extinguishers.
Port Macquarie station officer Jim Murphie said two fire extinguishers and a general hose reel were used to hard-boil the flames.
"Crews were called out at 5.03pm (to the Rydges Hotel Port Macquarie) and arrived at 5.09pm, the fire was finished at 5.37pm," he said.
"Fire was located in the cool room, it was brought under control... contained in cool room and kitchen of the hotel.
"It didn't spread anywhere else."
Firefighters also checked for damage to the room, said Mr Murphie.
He said unexpected cook ups (fires) in kitchens and cool rooms were not uncommon and the cause is yet to be determined. The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
Laura Ausling, who was whisking past and witnessed the commotion said she initially thought it was a false alarm for a hotel room.
"Driving past I looked down towards the end of the street and saw a bunch of fire brigade trucks," she said.
"Their lights were on, but sometimes you see that (when there's a false alarm) and nothing happens.
"I heard later that apparently the kitchen was on fire."
Rydges Hotel was contacted for comment.
