Port Macquarie-Hastings Council will provide funding up to $1000 for local youth-focused projects, with applications now open until Monday 1 April 2019.
Group manager Lucilla Marshall said this year council is calling on young people in the region to drive Youth Week activities and showcase their creative talents.
“Youth Week is a great way to celebrate our region’s young people, their skills and collective voice,” Ms Marshall said.
“Last year our local Youth Council organised some fantastic concerts and social events that our whole community could enjoy, and this year through our grants program we are encouraging local youth to go even bigger.
“Whether it’s pulling together a music event at the beach, raising awareness around important youth issues like youth homelessness and mental health, or creating eye-catching art installations, it’s up to you."
National Youth Week celebrations provide an opportunity for young people to come together to share ideas, attend live events, have their voices heard on issues of concern to them and most of all, have fun.
National Youth Week 2019 runs between April 10-18 with this year’s theme focusing on youth coming together to connect, share, speak out and celebrate.
“Council encourage all young people in our community to get involved in the organisation of Youth Week activities and to put your hand up, get involved and apply for funding to help bring your event ideas to life,” added Ms Marshall.
