When the Booti Cup was cancelled at the last minute, it was decided to sail race three of the summer series here instead.
The sparkling day with an easy south-easter and the first part of the run-out tide made for a lovely sail.
The catamaran fleet did not have any starters with most away, so with Frank O’Rourke being the only attendee, he sailed on a Flying 11 with one of the juniors.
The monohull fleet had quite a good showing and saw Terry Howard in Ratz sail a good race to take the yardstick win ahead of Martina Holt in Spellbound, Steve Bohlsen and Ed Molony in Interceptor and Elsa and Simon Gandy in Sailfish.
Then followed new owner Geoff Smith with Stuart Symons in Red Star, Frank O’Rourke and Bridgit Taylor in Flying Fish, Steve Couch in Rainbow, and Peter Nyberg in Britannia.
Ratz also won on handicap and was followed by Rainbow, Interceptor and Sailfish tied for third, Red Star, Britannia and Flying Fish tied for sixth, and Spellbound.
Next week is a double header, with race four of the summer series starting at 11am, a BBQ lunch, and then the fifth club championship race starting at 2pm.
No one is rostered on duty at this stage.
The fleet may be down a little with a late announcement that Queens Lake Sailing Club are holding there ‘Queen of the Lake’ regatta next weekend as well.
There will be 3 races on the Saturday and a marathon race on the Sunday.
