The session will cover topics from statutory declarations to affidavits, certifications, code of conduct and duty of care.
JP Gayle Costigan said the value of the training session was about getting the basics right.
From April 1, everyone applying to become a JP and all JPs applying to renew their appointment will be required to sit an examination on the JP Handbook.
The principal functions of a NSW JP are to witness a person making a statutory declaration, witness a person making an affidavit and certify that a copy of an original document is a true and accurate copy.
NSW Justices Association state president Dr John Brodie, in association with the NSW Justices Association Port Macquarie Hastings Branch, will present the training for JPs.
The Port Macquarie Hastings Branch, which was formed 12 months ago, has 72 members.
The training, which is free for NSW Justices Association members and $10 for non-members, is at The Westport Club on February 23 from 1pm to 4pm.
Contact Kim Rayner on 0419 760 808 or email portmacquariehastings@NSWJA.org.au to reserve your place.
There are 700 registered JPs in the Port Macquarie-Hastings area.
