The intention of this public forum is to provide a venue for philosophy enthusiasts, and those with a general interest, to hold discussions and hear lectures about philosophy.
Guest speakers from universities, and other relevant institutions, are sought to speak on the big philosophical questions of our time.
Members of the forum from the local area are also invited to speak and participate in debates and discussions.
After each event there is further opportunity for discussion over drinks or dinner for those who wish to participate.
The next talk is on Thursday February 21.
It features one of the organisers of the forum, Gary Dowling who will speak on the topic of: "Tolerance and its relationship to social development".
“This topic will examine contemporary intolerance to free speech and to confronting ideas in higher education," Mr Dowling said.
"The social implications of this trend to intolerance will be presented using philosophical principles of critical theory and theories of social philosophy.”
The Port Macquarie Philosophy Forum is at Port City Bowling Club, on February 21, 6pm to about 7.30pm.
Costs - $10 or $5 pensioner/concession.
