It is also the date that marks the invasion of this country by the British Empire and the subsequent dispossession of the existing inhabitants; it should be remembered for that too.
It also was the day that thousands of unwilling, dispossessed and chained 'convicts' were landed here to provide the slave labour to establish the colony; it also should be remembered for that.
So it's a significant day and should be retained as a day to both celebrate and acknowledge what happened back then. Lest we forget.
