The ridesharing service arrived in Port Macquarie on December 13.
“Regional NSW residents have been calling out for ridesharing for a while now and we’ve been humbled by the positive response from locals following Uber’s launch in the Port Macquarie community,” a spokesperson said.
“Since launching last month, we’ve had many drivers who are signed up and have gone through our background checks and accreditation process.”
The spokesperson stopped short of saying how many drivers were on the road.
Uber is a technology platform with the Uber app connecting driver-partners and riders.
Port Macquarie was among 15 regional launch locations in December.
“Ridesharing offers locals the opportunity to earn extra income with the flexibility and dignity that comes with being their own boss,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said Aussies across the country had embraced Uber as a safe and affordable way to get from A to B.
“We look forward to helping move locals around their cities as more riders and driver-partners use the app regularly,” the spokesperson said.
