A teen has been charged over the alleged stabbing of a man near Kempsey.

Emergency services were called to a home on Gowings Road at Dondingalong, near Kempsey, about 3.30am on New Year’s day following reports of a stabbing.
Officers from Mid North Coast Police District arrived; however, the alleged victim had already been taken to hospital by his friends.
Police attended Kempsey Hospital and spoke with a 20-year-old man who was being treated for a stab wound to his stomach.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 17-year-old boy after a short foot pursuit near the home in Dondingalong.
The teen was taken to Kempsey Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding. He was refused bail and will appear in a children’s court on February 2, 2019.
Police were made aware of another alleged stabbing at the same home that night.
Officers also spoke with a 16-year-old boy at Kempsey Hospital and inquiries into that incident are continuing.
