Westport Park will be smothered with blankets and chairs as the Hastings community sings and taps along to the wonderful entertainers heartily ringing out songs of Christmas.
Headlining this event will be entertainment “triple-threat” Tim Campbell. Gates open at 4.30pm.
Tim is one of Australia's most versatile and much loved entertainers. From leading roles on Home and Away, House Husbands, and countless other TV and prime time roles, to leads in the stage productions including Wicked, Rent and Shout.
Tim has just finished playing Corny Collins in the national tour of Hairspray the Arena Spectacular and most recently appeared in Channel 7’s new miniseries about the life of Olivia Newton John. He also released his chart topping sophomore album Electrifying 80s.
The Westport Club’s community and sports manager, Jenny Edmunds, is ecstatic to have Tim back again.
“He was so popular two years ago. So for all those people who write to us requesting ‘bring Tim back’, we’ve listened,” she said.
“In addition to Tim we’ve got an amazing line up of local artists and choirs, including Riley Page, Angus Gill, Port Macquarie Performing Arts, Port Macquarie-Hastings Municipal Band, and three school choirs, Telegraph Point, Westport Public and Hastings Secondary College-Westport Campus.”
There will also be a great variety of food vendors, amusements for the kids and a special visit by Santa and Mrs Claus.
Christmas under the Stars is an event for the community and for just $2 per person entry fee you will surely be guaranteed a great night’s entertainment ending and will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display.
The generosity of those attending truly comes to light on Christmas Day when less fortunate members of the community sit down to a lovely Christmas lunch and watch the joy on their children’s faces as they unwrap presents.
This is thanks to the donation given to The Salvation Army’s local Christmas hamper appeal from the entry cost to attend the event.
Greg Cocking for the Port Macquarie Salvation Army, said every little but helps Hastings families doing it tough this Christmas.
Up to 150 families locally will receive some sort of support this Christmas with thanks to the Salvos.
“This night is such good value and we would really encourage the community to come along and support it. I’m hoping Westport Park will be filled to capacity,” he said.
The Westport Club expects to boost the Christmas appeal with a sizeable donation immediately after the event.
