The 6JB class at Wauchope Public School were excited and proud to have Charlie Maher and Vincent Scott from the Indigenous Marathon Foundation visit our school to watch them complete the IMF Marathon as a team.

The men are part of the Clontarf Foundation based at Port Macquarie High School and were accompanied by three of Clontarf's Year 9 students.
The boys, Rylan, Tyler and Noah ran with 6JB students as they completed laps of the school playground, demonstrating first hand the IMF's motto of 'Run, Sweat, Inspire'.
6JB SRC leaders, Liah and Jack, had worked out the number of 500m laps to be run by 6JB students based on each student's running goal. Jack led the class on the marathon course which began with a run through a 'starting chute' of very encouraging and enthusiastic KLB students.
Before the team marathon, Charlie told 6JB and KLB students some of the history of the IMF. He also described a little of his own personal story as a young Indigenous man from the Northern Territory who has now travelled the world competing in marathons in major cities like New York and Boston. He spoke to the students about having goals, working hard to achieve those goals and believing that anything is possible.
At the end of the team marathon 6JB students were each presented with a 'Deadly Fun Run Champion' medal and a copy of the IMF's DVD for the class.
The IMF RAW (Running and Walking) Group is now meeting at Rocks Ferry Reserve in Wauchope every Wednesday from 5 to 6pm and all members of the community are welcome.
