Organisers from the Regional Experiences in Dementia Conference, the Fox Superflow MTB Championships, the Seaview Classic (Road Bike Race), and the Multisport Adventurethon will each receive $5,000 to assist in marketing their events.
Council director Jeffery Sharp said it was great to see a number of new events apply and receive funding in round 1 of the Events Sponsorship Program.
“Once again the sponsorship submissions were competitive, with some great local events seeking funding to promote and grow their events,” Mr Sharp said.
“We know how much of an impact the program has on giving events in their early stages a leg up, and council look forward to seeing how the recipients in round 1 benefit early next year when their events take place.”
Founder of the Mulitsport Creek to Creek Adventurethon Peter Nash said the $5,000 will help promote the event out of region to new target audiences.
“The grant will enable us to promote our Multisport Adventurethon from Coffs to Central Coast over the hill to Tamworth,” Mr Nash said.
“It will help with the construction and cost of our website, and we’ll be able to advertise online, print and TV, drive traffic to our website and promote our event and our region.”
The Event Sponsorship Program is open to both start up and existing events and offers two contestable application rounds each financial year.
The next round of funding will allocate another $20,000 to local events and opens in February 2019.
“Council congratulate all recipients who received funding this round, and look forward to even more great local events applying for sponsorship support in February,” Mr Sharp said.
Past events that have received funding under this program include the Port Macquarie Running Festival, Slice of Haven, and the Blues and BBQ Festival.
