Wauchope Arts president Krissa Wilkinson said they are very excited to have them play in the intimate setting of the arts hall on Saturday, December 1 from 8pm.
“You usually have to share them with 3000 others at festivals,” she said.
Wauchope Arts is giving away free tickets to the show. All you have to do is email krissaw@bigpond.net.au and tell her which music-loving friend you would bring to see FourPlay.
With a career stretching back to the mid-1990s, the band has five albums and performances at Carnegie Hall and The Barbican under their belt. Their latest album features urgent, soaring vocals, a deeply melodic chorus and crazed solos to push everything over the edge.
New single 'Wish' is a haunting ballad about living in a climate-changed world.
Local support vocalist and instrumentalist Rose Wilson will open the show with her infectious enthusiasm and warm, honest presence.
FourPlay put the ‘eclectic’ back into ‘electric string quartet’ with their second new single, ‘Wish’, a powerful, haunting ballad about living in a climate-changed world.
They are an indie rock band that just happen to be a string quartet. They began their professional lives entering a UNSW Band Competition, then surprised themselves by winning.
FourPlay started by performing covers predominantly by a diverse array of artists including The Strokes, Rage Against The Machine, Radiohead, Leonard Cohen, Robert Johnson, Sufjan Stevens, and many, many more.
Now, FourPlay return from wowing audiences at New York’s Carnegie Hall and London’s Barbican Centre with their new album, This Machine — the next step in the evolution of the string quartet as songwriters.
Tickets are available at Trybooking.com or $25 at the door from 7.30pm.
