They finished second in their pool of five regions in an impressive first taste of state level competition after previously only making it to regional level.
Coach Lachlan Milne said the team performed exceptionally well both on and off the court and represented their town with excellent sportsmanship.
“It was great to see their competitive drive flourish in a great setting,” he said.
“They were all understandably nervous before the match which all started with some much needed toilet breaks to calm the nerves, but I am so proud of their effort.
“They worked really hard to progress as far as they did.”
Milne said it was a great opportunity for the students to represent the school at any event.
“State finals is a great achievement and the students who played all felt so excited and proud of their effort,” he said.
“It is a sporting competition where the students score their own games so being fair and a great player is important.”
The focus of the event was not about winning, but enjoying the game.
“Things are not always going to go your way but you still dig deep and show great sportsmanship,” Milne said.
“At times the calls did not go in their favour so it is a great opportunity for students to build resilience.”
The competition saw regional winners from across NSW and the winning school from ACT.
