At 3.45pm, shortly after students had left for the day, three consecutive triple zero calls alerted Port Macquarie Fire and Rescue to the car fire on Hastings Avenue.
Port Macquarie station commander Gaven Muller said it was the quick response by the firies that kept the situation under control.
“The quick response from Port Macquarie Fire and Rescue crew limited the fire to just the one car with a secondary car receiving very minor damage,” Mr Muller said.
“We were on scene in less than seven minutes and we were able to quickly contain the fire.
“When we arrived the car was fully alight and we worked fast to contain the fire to just the original car.
“At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown however due to the suspicious nature Police will be investigating.”
Port Macquaire Police said investigations will be continuing as the car was reported stolen overnight.
