It backed up a third-place effort in round one as they turned the tables on Yamba and Cape Hawke.
Boat sweep Rick Rolff said conditions were perfect for rowing on Sunday after a challenging final two rounds on Saturday.
“The nor-easter came up a bit and it got a bit messy,” he said.
The performance of new face Sonya Crossingham contributed to the crew’s strong performance.
“She has never rowed before, but she came into the team and went really well,” Rolff said.
“Sometimes it all comes down to combinations where if you take one crew member out it takes a while to glue back together.”
Crossingham joined experienced heads Meredith Paterno, Kylie Rosenbaum and Niki Stafford who are into their fourth season of rowing.
Rolff said they had continued to improve while consistency was the key.
“The key to the win at the weekend was that they were consistent and learned to row in time which can be difficult,” Rolff said.
“They’ve trained reasonably hard.”
Port Macquarie also beat Cape Hawke and Woolgoolga on the way back to the beach in the second round on Sunday.
“The ladies crew from Cape Hawke won the Australian title last year and the crew from Woolgoolga beat us by about four or five lengths all the time last year,” Rolff said.
“We led them out to the cans, but after a couple of runs we got beat.”
Round three will be held on December 1 at Minnie Water.
