During his speech Mr McGrath shared insights on the local property market, national trends and an overview of the impact of metropolitan activity on regional developments.
The boardroom lunch was sponsored by McGrath Estate Agents and Sovereign Hills/Lewis Land Group.
Mr McGrath started selling real estate at the age of 20 years.
In 1988, he founded McGrath Estate Agents from his lounge room.
Today McGrath has 95 offices along the east coast of Australia, including Port Macquarie.
The group sells over 11,000 homes a year and manages about 33,000 properties on behalf of investors.
Speaking to over 70 members and guests of the Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce, Mr McGrath also expanded on his family life and humble beginnings as a determined young real estate agent.
He encouraged the audience to be the best at what they do and not to listen to ‘dream thieves’.
Chamber president Michael Mowle, said Mr McGrath's speech was relevant to the area.
“In line with our role as advocates for an innovative and resilient local business community, it is important for Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce to be able to offer members and guests access to high quality and informative guest speakers," Mr Mowle said.
"John shared some great knowledge and advice, which was also relevant to our local economy.”
