The 200 Together community bicentenary community day will be held on Port Macquarie’s Town Green from 11am on Sunday, October 28.
There will be fun opportunities for grandparents, older people, children and families to connect, interact, share and create memories.
“The highlight of our Museum on the Green stall will be a photo booth,” said Clive Smith, Port Macquarie Historical Society president.
“There will be opportunities to dress up and/or use our props to record this special family day with a souvenir photograph. There will also be hands-on exhibits, a history quiz and opportunities to browse and search our digital photographs collection.”
NSW Grandparents Day celebrates the contributions grandparents and older people make to their families and communities.
It is a day to celebrate all the great things grandparents and seniors have achieved, and continue to do.
“Many of our volunteers are grandparents and most of us are older people, so this is a fitting way to celebrate and showcase our work and the work of those who have come before us with our community,” Mr Smith said.
“We will also be giving away free family passes to our Museum and showing people how to access and learn more about the past 200 years of our local history.”
Museum on the Green has been supported with a NSW Grandparents Day grant from the state government.
