The Diamonds and the OFFS played what was described as a “fabulous game played in the best of spirit” which ended in a 10-all draw.
Diamonds got off to a quick start batting in six runs. At the bottom of the first innings, Jo Bonney was a standout playing at third base, catching a hard hit ball to dismiss the batter then putting out the runner heading for home to complete a great double play.
Pitching for OFFS, Jo Morgan settled in after the first innings to slow down Diamonds run tally. Morgan also featured in the batting hitting three safe hits for her three times at bat.
The stand out for Diamonds was Alison Cash, who excelled at all four different positions she played during the game.
The next game was a close one between the Phoenix and the Lakers, which was eventually won 7-6 by the Phoenix.
Lakers took control of the game early, putting two runs on the board in quick fashion. Their opponents evened the score in the fourth innings.
Strong batting by Lakers batted in another four runs, outing Phoenix in a chasing position.
With time running out, the Phoenix were in for a nail biting finish.
At the bottom of the sixth inning, Kylie Winterton hit to left field, along with Naomi Boyd and Xanthe Ayton, batting in three runs between them to save the day and claim the win.
Last up it was Enduro and the Local Lawyers, with the former showing no mercy and proving far to strong for their courageous opponents.
Enduro’s pitchers controlled the game from the start, with the Lawyers were unable to hit the speed of the ball. Enduro ran out huge winners, 31-zip.
Enduro remain on the top of the ladder, followed by the Phoenix. The Local Lawyers, despite their thumping on the weekend, sit in third place ahead of Lakers Forster and Diamonds. OFFS are at the bottom of the pile.
Matches on October 27 will be played at Findlay Park. The Diamonds take on the Phoenix, the Local Lawyers face off with Lakers, leaving Enduro and Offs squaring off in the final match.
