The gala premiere performance of the play John Oxley's Journey to Port Macquarie is, officially, a sell out.
The event is on Sunday October 14 and will double as a fundraiser for the Douglas Vale Historic Homestead and Vineyard.
This performance was limited to 60 tickets and will be followed by light refreshments, as well as an opportunity to taste a special Heritage Port.
The unique John Oxley 200th Anniversary Explorers Red Wine will be released and bottles will be available to purchase as part of the premiere, said the play's writer Kay Morrison.
"This play relates the story of the brave party who travelled from Bathurst to Port Macquarie and then back to Sydney and is based on the book: I Went With John Oxley by Port Macquarie-based author, Richard Grimmond," Mrs Morrison said.
"There are eight males in the cast of the play, portraying the roles of John Oxley, George Evans, Charles Fraser and Doctor Harris.
It is getting quite exciting leading up to Sunday's premiere. It is an outdoor performance so there should be plenty of atmosphere.Kay Morrison
"The remaining four roles are those of four of the accompanying convicts. Other performers include actors from the Player’s Theatre, members of Port Macquarie Toastmasters and also some Douglas Vale members.
"Talented artist, Pauline Roods, has volunteered to paint the backdrop."
Mrs Morrison thanked the actors for their effort in rehearsal along with sound technicians Elmer Varga and Marian Chisolm.
Her husband, Robert, has also assisted with the construction of the stage.

The performance of the play is supported by a bi-centennial grant from the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and will also be performed on the bi-centennial open day at Douglas Vale on Saturday October 20 at noon.
A third and final performance will be at the Wauchope Country Club at 6pm on Tuesday night October 30.
Tickets to the final performance will be available at the country club from Monday October 15.
