As in previous years, the start of the Beach Yoga season is celebrated with a free community event. On Sunday, October 7 at 8 am, yogis of all ages and abilities will get on their mats at Town Beach reserve to support YP Space Mid North Coast (YPS).
YPS is a not for profit youth specialist homelessness service operating in the Port Macquarie-Hastings and Kempsey-Macleay areas for over 32 years.
Their services are not just limited to providing a safe place for young people but a range of emotional and financial support, including life skills to help these young people move into a positive future.
Denis Juelicher, who has been operating her Beach Yoga business from Town Beach for more than 10 years, is keen to support local community organisations annually.
“We have raised a significant number of funds for local community organisations including the Coastal Warriors and the Women’s Refuge over the years and will continue to do so. Giving back to the community is important to us. We see it as a way of taking the yoga off the mat and into the world,” Denise said.
The morning will start with a one hour yoga class by the ocean, suitable for all ages and abilities. Participants need to bring their own yoga mat or beach towel. Class attendance is by donation
During the morning raffle prizes, donated by a number of generous local businesses in our community will be drawn. Prizes include massages, natural therapy treatments, yoga vouchers and more.
Everyone will gather for a communal breakfast from about 9.30am. Participants can bring your own picnic breakfast or enjoy one of the many breakfast treats prepared by the local yoga community and available by donation.
This is a free community event open to anyone who would like to enjoy a couple of hours by the beach with friends and family.
