Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams has been formally re-endorsed as the NSW Nationals candidate for the 2019 State election.

The MP was unanimously preselected unopposed for a third term at the National Party meeting in Port Macquarie on Saturday, September 29.
“I sincerely thank my National Party colleagues for again giving me the opportunity to represent the Party and the constituents of the Port Macquarie electorate in the NSW Parliament,” Mrs Williams said.
“I take my local member responsibilities very seriously and I will continue to give it my undivided attention.
“I am committed to ensuring that the people of the Port Macquarie electorate continue to have the best representation possible in Macquarie Street and that we continue to get our fair share of government funding which can only be achieved if a Liberals/Nationals government is re-elected in March next year,” Mrs Williams said.
Mrs Williams is actively involved in many community organisations as a current member of Rotary, the Hastings Business Women's Network, Port Macquarie Suicide Prevention Network, the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce, the Hastings Cancer Trust, North Coast Amateur Swimming Club, the Laurieton Swimming Club, Special Olympics Mid North Coast, Lake Cathie Football Club and was a founding member of the Hastings Men's Shed.
She also convenes the Parliamentary Friends of Dementia Group, is a committee member of the Mid North Coast Chapter of Bravehearts and has been a Mid North Coast Ambassador for the Cancer Council’s Australia's Biggest Morning Tea.
The NSW election will be held in March 2019.
The Australian Labor Party has nominated Peter Alley to contest the seat held by Mrs Williams since March 2011.
Mr Alley has been a member of the Labor Party for 25 years and was elected unopposed.
Mr Alley previously contested the seat of Port Macquarie in 2011, Lyne in 2013 and 2016, and was elected as a councillor for Port Macquarie-Hastings Council in 2016.
