Several years ago I expressed my concern when Busways town buses began using Rowthorne Way as a thoroughfare in the Crestwood Estate, Port Macquarie.

The concern related to several factors:
1. The width of the road; this was built as a residential road, not a road for commercial vehicles. At times it is difficult for two cars to pass each other, especially when residents have the right to park out the front of their property making the road even narrower in places.
2. There are a lot of young children in the street and there is concern an accident could result in a child being hit.
3. The speed in which some of the bus drivers travel. I acknowledge that the speed limit is 50km/h, however in residential areas that is discretionary, depending on conditions, and conditions here do not allow vehicles to safely travel at the speed limit.
At the time I expressed my concerns, Busways informed me that Rowthorne Way would only ever be a temporary solution until the Crestwood Road loop was finished being constructed.
This loop road is now complete, however the buses are still traversing Rowthorne Way. Whether this is due to no notification being given regarding the completion of this construction or other matters.
I hope that sooner rather than later the original plan of Busway buses only travelling on Crestwood Drive begins.
