There are so many people within our community who dedicate their time contributing to make the Port Macquarie-Hastings region such an inclusive and great place to live. These people often go unrecognised, asking little in return for their efforts.
If you know someone who goes above and beyond in our community and want to help celebrate their contribution, then I encourage you to nominate them for a 2019 Port Macquarie-Hastings Australia Day Award.
If it wasn’t for people in our community willing to go the extra mile, much of why we love this region simply would not exist.
The award categories include the Young Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year and Community Group of Year.
Nominations are open until Friday 30 November 2018 and can be submitted at pmhc.nsw.gov.au/australiaday.
Walking Trails
As spring kicks into gear and the weather starts to warm up, I wanted to remind everyone about the many walking trails that exist right across our region.
Whether it’s a beach to beach walk in the Camden Haven, a stroll along the Googik Track in the Lake Innes Nature Reserve or a hike through the Kerewong State Forest near Kendall, there’s plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the great outdoors.
We often travel far to view beautiful natural attractions without realising that our region is home to some of the best bush walks, lookouts and camping spots around.
To plan your next day trip exploring all our region has to offer, don’t forget to check out council’s Walking Trails app which showcases trail locations, their length and other things to see and do nearby.
