The Hastings Camp Quality Support Group is hosting the fundraising dinner at Panthers, Port Macquarie and support group leader Michelle Hancock said it is shaping up to be a great night.
“The annual fundraiser is all about raising funds to send local kids on our camps so they can forget about their cancer and be with kids their own age for a little while,” Ms Hancock said.
“Last year, camps across Australia helped more than 7,500 kids and we hope to help as many local kids as we can.
“At every stage of the cancer journey, Camp Quality is there providing support for not just for the kids going through cancer but also to their siblings and family but to do that we need the financial help that the ball can provide.”
Camp Quality provides innovative programs and services to develop life skills and strengthens the well-being of children aged 0-13 growing up with cancer and their families.
Tickets for the Giggle Ball are $80 which includes a three course meal with live entertainment and a special guest speaker.
The event aims to brings the community together for a night of giggles and giving.
“The funds raised at this event will be used for kids camps, fun therapy activities, in hospital support and primary school education programs for our local children and families living with cancer,” she said.
Todd Bates principal at McGrath Port Macquarie, and major sponsor of the event, said it was going to be a great night.
“This is the third year we have been involved in the Giggle Ball and we really believe Camp Quality is a great organisation who needs a helping hand to help so many kids locally,” Mr Bates said.
“Camp Quality gets no government support so it is important that we can come together as a community and support them because cancer touches all of us in some way.
“Last year we raised over $40,000 and this year we are hoping to raise over $50,000 with the help of the community.”
The dress theme for the ball is Hollywood Glamour and Mr Bates said he hopes the community gives generously and considers coming along to the ball.
"We have already sold more than 180 tickets and are hoping to crack 300 tickets sold so there is still time to secure your ticket and come along to this great event,” he said.
