Tamika has never had a haircut in her life, and as well as raising money, she will be donating her hair to wig making.
The big day was on September 11, Tamika’s 18th birthday, when Amy from Jenisha got the scissors out.
“I’m supporting the Cancer Council in their mission for a cancer-free future,” says Tamika.
“I'm cutting my hair for the first time in 18 years to show my support for those diagnosed with cancer. The money raised will go to the Cancer Council and my hair will be made into wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer.
In the end, Tamika far exceeded her goal of $1,000 by raising $2,623.
She thanked everyone who helped her.
“I’m very grateful to everyone who sponsored me to support cancer research and provide vital services for Australians living with cancer. Thank you for your generous donations. Together, we can beat cancer,” she said.
